On September 9, 2025, at the 2025 Beijing China International Optics Fair (CIOF), Akeso, in collaboration with PASEEN Optics, officially launched the world’s first photochromic defocus lens for myopia prevention.

Driven by independent innovation, Akeso integrates optical technology + materials technology + intelligent manufacturing, introducing the revolutionary product Stellar Guard™ photochromic defocus myopia prevention lens.

This product not only fills the global gap in photochromic lenses for myopia prevention, but also demonstrates China’s world-class independent innovation capabilities in the field of vision health.

1. Pain Point Entry: The Needs of 60 Million Pre-Myopic Adolescents Remain Unmet

At present, among adolescents aged 3–12 in China, approximately 60 million are in the pre-myopia stage. This is a large population with a strong demand for early prevention and intervention.

However, for the needs of this segment, the market currently lacks targeted and effective solutions.

2. Core Technology: Independent Innovation, Breaking Through Boundaries

Stellar Guard™, based on Akeso’s independently developed MetaRx™ lens lithography technology, breaks through the limitations of traditional manufacturing processes and achieves:

  • More than 90,000 precisely engraved micro-lenses per single lens
  • A minimum micro-lens diameter of only 0.1 mm
  • Micro-structure density and precision nearly twice that of conventional lenses

The technology is entirely independently developed in China, breaking foreign technical monopolies and marking an important milestone for intelligent manufacturing in the field of ophthalmic optics.

3. Dual-Version, Stage-Based Protection: Precise Matching for Different Age Groups

  • The Dynamic version is suitable for low-myopia children aged 3–6, adopting a “no central blank zone” + 6.00D design, achieving full-coverage defocus signal;
  • The Professional version is suitable for children and adolescents aged 6–12 with moderate myopia, introducing a “dual-focus zone” technology. Combined with photochromic lenses and defocus optics, it provides more than +10.00D high-intensity defocus, strengthening protection against axial eye growth.

4. Full-Scenario Protection: One Lens Covers Both Indoor and Outdoor Visual Needs

Stellar Guard™ adopts Akeso’s proprietary Composite Bonding™ optical photochromic technology, achieving:

  • 30-second rapid color change, with seamless adaptation to light variations
  • UV400 protection, blocking 99% of UVA/UVB
  • One lens, dual scenarios: precise indoor defocus and intelligent outdoor photochromic adaptation

5. Strategic Collaboration: Optical Technology + Materials + Intelligence in One

At the launch event, Akeso Founder and CEO Dr. Cai and PASEEN Optics Chairman Mr. Li Jun officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement, integrating:

  • Akeso’s nano-scale lithography and optical design advantages
  • PASEEN Optics’ 25 years of photochromic lens technology expertise

Together, they fully realize the integrated solution of “optics + materials + intelligence”, providing comprehensive, multi-scenario myopia prevention solutions for children and adolescents.
