April 10–11, 2026 | Shanghai
#COOC2026 was an important moment for the Akeso team, giving us the chance to share our work, connect with experts, and be part of the global conversation on the future of vision care.
Held in Shanghai, the 26th International Congress of Ophthalmology and Optometry China brought together leaders from ophthalmology, optometry, clinical research, and optical innovation, with Akeso proud to be among the notable contributors helping shape the next phase of vision technology and personalised care.

At COOC 2026, we presented how Akeso is bringing together advanced lens technologies, AI-powered visual intelligence, and personalised care solutions to support both clinicians and patients. From myopia management for children and adolescents to advanced eye-tracking systems and ultra-thin lens platforms, our aim is to make vision care more precise and more practical.
Our booth at COOC 2026 gave visitors an inside look into Akeso’s technology, innovation, and vision care solutions.
At the centre was MetaRx, Akeso’s advanced lens photolithography technology platform.
MetaRx uses precision photolithography to create highly customised optical designs that support personalised myopia management, especially for children and adolescents experiencing progressive vision changes. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, MetaRx is designed to help clinicians offer more patient-specific optical solutions based on clinical need.
A major part of the conversation around MetaRx at COOC focused on how technology can support evidence-based, clinically guided decision-making in both ophthalmology and optometry.
We also introduced our ongoing Airlens research project, our ultra-thin diffractive optics platform.
Designed using nano-structured optical surfaces and precision lithography, Airlens offers high visual clarity in a form factor of less than 1 mm thickness, making it ideal for modern ophthalmic correction, smart eyewear, and compact optical systems.

Another key highlight was Eyelign, our eye-tracking and visual intelligence platform.
Eyelign combines AI-powered gaze estimation, wearable eye-tracking glasses, and software-based tracking systems to capture how people see, focus, and interact in real time. Its applications span healthcare, research, AR/VR, behavioural analytics, and intelligent interfaces.
One of the strongest themes throughout COOC 2026 was the shift toward personalised vision care. Industrial conversation has clearly moved beyond standardised solutions and toward approaches that are data-led, clinically informed, and tailored to individual patients.
At our booth discussions, much of the conversation centred on:
This theme came through strongly in discussions around MetaRx and how clinicians are increasingly looking for tools that help support more measurable and customised treatment pathways.

COOC 2026 brought together several respected professionals and specialists in the field. The event and its discussions included leading voices such as:
Their contributions focused on clinical research, lens mechanisms, optical innovation, and the future direction of myopia management technologies.
Alongside the speaker lineup, #COOC2026 saw strong engagement from ophthalmologists, optometrists, clinical researchers, hospital professionals, industry partners, and various vision care specialists.
What stood out most for us was the level of curiosity and engagement around practical innovation. The audience response showed strong interest in technologies that go beyond theory and can be applied in real-world care settings. Conversations at the booth focused on how our technologies could help make eye care:
The engagement around MetaRx, Airlens, and Eyelign reinforced that the industry is actively looking for solutions that combine strong science with everyday usability.

COOC 2026 reinforced where the future of vision care is heading. The next phase of eye care will be more personalised, AI-supported, data-informed, and clinically integrated.
For Akeso, this means continuing to invest in:
The conversations in Shanghai gave us valuable momentum and strong validation that the industry is ready for smarter, more patient-focused solutions.
We are excited to keep building on this momentum and continue contributing to the future of eye care.
Akeso Eyecare is a doctor-founded eye-technology company and CDMO focused on improving vision care. We design and build advanced solutions like AR displays for myopia prevention, eye tracking, extended reality devices, and digital vision health tools used in eye care and smart technology.
Our mission is to improve global vision health through smart innovation. By combining optical design, materials science, and AI, our R&D team supports partners from early research to custom design, manufacturing, and large-scale production, always guided by medical expertise, collaboration, sustainability, and patient-first thinking.
Akeso – engineering the future of vision.
